Partioaitta is a sub-brand of FENIX Outdoor, which also contains brands such as Fjällräven and Naturkompaniet. Partioaitta is a Finnish sports retail brand that provides a wide range of hiking equipment. They have 21 physical stores and an online store that offers high-quality equipment and clothing for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy activities like hiking and camping.

Partioaitta has a wide selection of outdoor equipment such as tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, and cooking gear, as well as clothing suitable for different outdoor activities. The company is committed to sustainability and partners with environmentally conscious brands, while also having its line of eco-friendly products. Partioaitta provides expert advice and guidance to help customers choose the right gear and clothing for their needs.

FENIX Outdoor has several initiatives on sustainability and circular economies. One important process is to provide customers with an alternative to renting sporting goods in addition to buying. Partioaitta was chosen as a pilot for this service.

Challenge

FENIX Outdoor and Partioaitta tried to find an all-in-one solution for their new hiking equipment rental business and to test the market for circular business models. They were also looking for a system that could expand and grow with the rental business. Choosing the right rental system was essential, particularly if the pilot test was successful and they got excellent results upon launching it.

Partioaitta also wanted to find a system that could be tailored, branded, white-labeled, released, and market-tested. They found that many of the available solutions were costly, especially when they considered all of the features that they might require in the future.

Implementation

Partioaitta created its own branded online rental store with the help of Sharefox. Additionally, the website provides helpful information about rental policies, pricing, and equipment maintenance.

At the back end, Partioaitta gets a full admin system with a full overview of their customers, orders, and available and booked inventory.

Results

Hiking equipment is now being offered as a rental service in 14 of Partioaitta’s stores. With the launch of this new rental service, their customers can access high-quality outdoor equipment for their adventures without having to purchase them outright.

In Partioaitta’s online rental shop, the customer can easily browse and rent different types of outdoor equipment, such as tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and cooking gear, on their online rental store.
