Sharefox's November 2024 update adds public order notes, sectioned accessories, customer-led delivery status changes, flexible per-product payment flows, week numbers in the Schedule, Danish/Swedish order handling, and Sharefox Embed for booking directly from your main website.

The last few weeks have been highly productive here at Sharefox, and we’re glad to share the improvements we’ve made with all of you. Whether you run an equipment rental business or manage a fleet of vehicles, several of these updates are built to save you time on the operational details that add up over a season.

For some of you, winter means a quieter season. That’s not a reason to pause — it’s often the best window to test new features, tidy up your rental booking software setup, and get ahead of spring demand before it hits.

Here’s everything that shipped this month.

Order Notes: Keep Instructions Where Your Team Can See Them

Sometimes you need to attach notes to an order — instructions for the customer, terms agreed over the phone, or a description of damage found at return. You can now do exactly that.

Scroll to the bottom of any order and you’ll find a new “Public Notes” field. Anything you add here appears in three places automatically:

  • The order PDF
  • The customer receipt email
  • The My Orders page in your shop

This closes a gap that used to mean double-handling: writing a note internally, then separately emailing the customer to explain it. Now it travels with the order.

Sections for Accessories: Organize a Growing Product Catalogue

If your shop carries a wide range of accessories, add-ons, and extras, you can now group them into labeled sections with dedicated headers — instead of one long, unsorted list.

To set this up, go to the admin product page for the main product, open Product Options → Package and Addons → Edit, and assign a header name under “Package Group.” It’s a small change to the admin screen, but it has a real effect on conversion: customers browsing a cleanly organized inventory rental management system are more likely to find — and add — the accessory that completes their booking.

Let Customers Change Delivery Statuses Themselves

This is one of the bigger releases this month. Shop users can now update the status of their own active rentals directly from the My Orders page — for example, moving from “Picked Up” to “Ready for Return,” or from “Reserved” to “Confirmed,” depending on the custom statuses your business has set up.

Every status change automatically triggers an email confirmation to both the merchant and the customer, so nobody is left guessing where things stand. If you’d like this enabled for your shop, get in touch with our team.

Optional Flexible Payment Flow, Based on Product Type

Not every product in your catalogue should be checked out the same way. This new optional feature lets the order flow automatically adjust based on what’s being booked.

A few examples of how businesses are using it:

  • A large item or a multi-day bike experience gets set to “Request” status, skipping immediate online payment until the details are confirmed.
  • A digital meeting or short-notice booking is processed with online payment only, for a fully automated checkout.

It’s a quieter cousin to the online checkout options many rental businesses already rely on — same storefront, different rules depending on what’s in the cart. Contact us if you’d like this configured for your shop.

Week Numbers in the Schedule

The Schedule can now display week numbers in the standard monthly view. It’s a small addition, but for businesses (and customers) who plan by week number rather than calendar date, it removes a step of manual translation every time you open the calendar. This sits alongside other planning tools inside our booking calendar functionality. Get in touch if you’d like it turned on.

Order Handling Now Available in Danish and Swedish

The Order, Schedule, and Customers modules are now fully translated into Danish and Swedish, joining our existing support for Norwegian and English. If you operate — or plan to expand — in the Nordics, reach out to our support team to have this enabled.

Start the Rental Journey From Your Main Website

If you run a separate marketing or “main” website alongside your dedicated Sharefox shop, Sharefox Embed now offers a more seamless path from browsing to booking. A simple embed code lets customers pick a location, date, and time directly on your main site, then complete the booking inside the Sharefox shop — no confusing handoff between two disconnected sites.

Fewer steps between interest and checkout tends to mean fewer abandoned bookings. If this fits your setup, get in touch to get access.

Smaller Updates

  • Invoice base PDF titles now include the order reference, making them easier to match against your accounting records.
  • The dashboard has a fresher look.
  • Several bug fixes and security improvements.

Why This Matters: A Word From Our Product Team

“Every one of these updates came out of a real request from a shop owner who was working around a limitation instead of solving it. The order status feature alone came from three different merchants telling us the same thing: their customers wanted to update rentals without waiting on a phone call.” — Michal Glinka, Product Team, Sharefox

That pattern isn’t unique to Sharefox. Across the software industry, clear and frequent product communication is closely tied to how well customers actually adopt new functionality — which is exactly why we keep publishing these monthly updates rather than letting features go live quietly.
