SEO for rental businesses

As an online rental business, it is important to make sure that your website is easily discoverable by search engines like Google; this is known as search engine optimization (SEO). Having a website alone is not enough anymore. Strategically working with SEO will give you more visitors from Google on your website and more customers for your rental service. SEO requires a lot of work over a long period, and unfortunately, there is no magic solution. Therefore, we have written this article to provide you with some tips on how to get started with SEO.

Here are some tips for improving your website’s SEO:

1. Use relevant and targeted keywords

Keywords are the terms that people use when searching for businesses like yours. Which keywords should you focus on? Start by creating a list of important words for your rental business. These can be words you use in the industry and words your customers use.

To maximize your success, it is important to consider the keywords associated with your industry and the services or products you offer. This will help ensure that customers can easily find information about what you are offering. You can use the Google search bar to check which relevant keywords pop up when you plot some of the words. Feel free to combine your keywords with the city you offer rentals in, this could be a way to get higher rank on Google. An example of a keyword for a rental business that rents out lifts in Oslo in Norway is: Rent lifts in Oslo. Some other examples may be kayak rental London or scaffolding rental Copenhagen.

2. Check what is actually being searched for

To get the most out of your website, it is essential to thoroughly compare potential keywords before selecting which ones you will optimize for. Google Ads is not only for advertising, but you can also use the “Keyword Planner,” which is a very useful and free tool for checking how many people actually search on the keywords per month and how much competition there is. If you want to use the tool you can find it under scheduling in the menu Tools and Settings. Google Trends is also a useful tool, here you can compare the interest in different search terms over time.

3. Optimize your website’s structure and content

Determining the best keywords to optimize your website is only step one. Then it’s time for some technical work. Make sure that you don’t upload pictures that have a large file size, because it is not recommended to use files bigger than 100 kb. Navigating through your website should also be simple and each page should include high-quality content. This isn’t just beneficial for search engines’ understanding of your business but also amplifies the user experience for all visitors who come across it.

To give search engines insight into what your business is about, incorporate pertinent and appropriate keywords in all aspects of your website content. This could be title tags and meta descriptions. Each page on your website should be optimized for a unique keyword; this means that the same keyword should not be reused on multiple pages, but should be unique for each one. Therefore, you need to find a keyword for each page on your website.

4. How to write search engine optimized texts on your website:

  • Meta descriptions – should be around 160 words. In the meta title you describe the content of this specific page that applies to and mention the keyword you’ve chosen to focus on. You should write exciting descriptions; this will get the reader to click on your link. It’s also a good idea to end the description with a Call to Action (CTA), such as: Read more, learn more, etc.
  • Meta titles – are recommended to be at least 60 words. This is also a slightly shorter description of the content on the page. The keyword should be mentioned at the start of the title.
  • Alt texts and titles on your multimedias. Add titles and alt texts to each photo and video when you upload them to your website. It is recommended to mention the keyword that you are focusing on the page.
  • Content on your page. The keyword should be mentioned consistently in the text of the page you want to get higher up on Google. Headings like H1 and H2 should mention the keyword and you should also add different variations of the keyword in the content itself.

To rank higher in search engine results it is crucial to gain quality backlinks from esteemed websites. Backlinks are links leading visitors to your website from other sites and will help boost the trustworthiness and exposure of your content. This can be a game-changing strategy for any website. Create a list of your business allies or partners who you can request a link to your page. Reach out to them and suggest linking to each other’s pages.

6. Use social media to your advantage

Utilizing social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn can be a great way to boost website traffic. Make sure that you share your site’s content on the appropriate channels and ask your followers to spread it around too. This will help increase visibility of your website and get more people viewing what you have to offer.

7. Make your website mobile-friendly

To remain competitive in the digital landscape, it’s essential that your website is mobile optimized. Google rewards websites which are mobile friendly with higher rankings on its search engine, so take time to test your website across various devices to guarantee faultless visuals and functionality.

8. Monitor your progress

Finally, it is important to monitor your website’s ranking and see how the optimization efforts are paying off. You can use Google Analytics, Google Search Console or other tracking tools to keep an eye on how many visitors you’re getting, where they are coming from, and how long they stay on your site. Keep an eye on the keywords you’ve chosen and see if they are still as popular as before, or if there’s a new keyword that might be more beneficial for you to focus on.

By following these tips, you can improve your website’s SEO and increase the chances of your online business being found by search engines like Google.
